This Friday, October 17 is set to be a day steeped in sudsy nostalgia just south of Seattle’s Pike Place Market as Pike Brewing Company celebrates 25 years as a neighborhood beer go-to.
For nearly a month, a special, 30-barrel batch of Pike’s 25th Anniversary Beer—Pike Reunion 25—has been awaiting the grand tapping leading up to Friday’s anniversary party, and will be served at the pub that evening alongside a selection of every available Pike beer. With the help of alumni Pike brewers, head brewer Dean Mochizuki designed and created the special brew as a modernized version of the original pale ale. Party-goers can expect fruity notes from aromatic hops supported by a solid malt base, Mochizuki says.
Just as owners Charles and Rose Ann Finkel know good beer, the folks at Pike Brewing know any good party needs a pre-party warm-up—and they’ve known it since Pike’s opening day in 1989. Twenty-five years later, the Finkels are following up on the inaugural World’s Shortest Non-Motorized Uphill Parade with the 2nd World’s Shortest Non-Motorized Uphill Parade (and perhaps the world’s longest and most specific parade name).
Join the parade at Copperworks Distillery (appropriately owned by Pike’s first brewer, Jason Parker), leading up to the pub’s Post Alley entrance for an evening of specialty brews, food stations, live music and the grand opening of Pike’s new Oyster Bar.
