Drifters: Pine River Ranch

by | Mar 19, 2014

Whether you visit in the summer to cool your skin in the flowing waters of the Wenatchee river, or head out for a winter excursion marked by the glistening, snow-capped peaks at nearby Steven’s Pass—the town of Leavenworth, Wash., is a charming retreat, no matter the season. A Bavarian town surrounded by Pacific Northwestern terrain, visits to this beguiling village are made even more memorable when paired with a stay at nearby Pine River Ranch.

Located on 22-acres of breathtaking landscape, Pine River Ranch boasts six different suites, all designed with “getaway” in mind. After dropping off your bags and taking in the surrounding serenity, you won’t be able to resist slipping into your in-room Jacuzzi. Loaded with complimentary bath crystals, you can take in views of the great outdoors while leisurely soaking in your own personal spa—wine glass in hand.

River rock gas fireplaces, handmade log beds and Northwest-inspired decor add brilliant ambiance to this backwoods bed and breakfast, making it an ideal destination for couples looking for a romantic escape. Add chocolate covered strawberries and flutes of bubbling Champagne and you may not want to leave your room.

However, if you do find yourself feeling adventurous, head into town (it’s a short 10 minute drive from your room) to enjoy all that Leavenworth has to offer. From charming gift shops to enticing cuisine and wine tasting, the Bavarian village boasts beer, brats and everything you’ll need to sate your thirst or appetite.

Dishing up traditional-style German brats, Munchen Haus is a favorite for hearty helpings of sausage and beer. Or, if “wurst” isn’t your scene, you can head to South, for a plate of authentic Mexican food—it’s the best in town. After an evening touring the village and chowing down, head to Icicle Brewing Company for a few of their hand crafted pints brewed in the heart of Leavenworth.

If a more upscale evening is on your agenda, Visconti’s dishes up antipasto platters, a full menu of sumptuous wines, and traditional Italian food so good it’s amore. They’re also conveniently located above their Italian market, Cured. Deli cases of world meats and cheeses along with shelves boasting mustards, relishes, sauerkraut and more will have your mouth watering at the very sight of it all.

After an evening on the town, head back to Pine River Ranch and cuddle up under the covers where you can enjoy free Wifi and a selection of more than 200 movies to keep you entertained. Waking up you may not want to crawl out of your comfortable bed, and because Pine River Ranch delivers a homemade breakfast directly to your door, you won’t have to.

During the day, you can enjoy exploring Pine River Ranch’s beautiful grounds and breathtaking views. Be sure and take a peek at their barn—it’s a beautiful space that can be rented for weddings and events.

Outstanding amenities in a gorgeous location paired with a friendly staff all make Pine River Ranch a luxury retreat next door to Washington’s very own Bavarian wonderland.
