LOCAL EVENT PAIRS SEATTLE’S BEST BEER WITH THEO CHOCOLATE

Tickets now on sale for BitterSweet: Beer + Chocolate.

The event celebrates the pairing of Seattle’s world class beer with chocolates from Theo Chocolate. Eight of the area’s top breweries will be serve their beer alongside confections and chocolates from Theo Chocolate. The participating breweries are also creating unique beers using products from Theo Chocolates. The event takes place on Thursday, November 10th, 2011 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Fremont Brewing Company in Seattle. The event benefits FamilyWorks, a local food bank and family resource center.

Event organizers selected eight Seattle-area breweries to participate. Each brewery is producing a beer using products from Theo Chocolate. In some cases, this includes new beer styles never before brewed. Also, each brewery will provide a beer from its regular lineup that will be paired with a particular Theo Chocolate. Attendees will sample the specialty beers, as well as the beer + chocolate pairings, and then vote for their favorites. Swing Soiree, a local Gypsy jazz band, will provide live entertainment. Tickets are $35 per person in advance, available through Brown Paper Tickets via the event website, BitterSweetSeattle.com. This is a 21 and over event: no minors.

“Our local artisan brewers and the chocolate experts at Theo Chocolate have a lot in common,” says Kendall Jones, Director of the Washington Beer Blog. “There are similarities between the two processes and creativity is at the core of both crafts. When we introduced the brewers to the experts from Theo, we quickly realized that they spoke the same language. The room was buzzing with creative energy.

“Our goal with this event is to showcase how beer can be paired elegantly with chocolate to elevate the consumer’s enjoyment of both products. Also, we want to introduce people to uncommon beers and give the breweries creative license to make beers the world has never scene. People will be amazed when they taste the range of beers produced for this event.”

BitterSweet: Beer+ Chocolate is another example of how food and beer pairing has increased in popularity. For more information about the emerging trend of beer and food pairing, see the article recently published on the Washington Beer Blog: http://washingtonbeerblog.com/beer-food-pairing .
