A Warm Welcome

by | Aug 31, 2011

I have heard so many times over the past several months in speaking to people, “It’s about time someone did a magazine like this.” Thus, I am humbled and proud to say,Welcome to the inaugural issue of SIP Northwest! Our mission is to celebrate the fabulous wines, brews and spirits (and everything else you can sip!) of the Pacific Northwest. We plan to showcase not only the best “sips” our region has to offer but we’ll spotlight the people who create and nurture them.

Growing up in Eastern Washington, I would never have thought that my home region would become known for producing some of the best varietals in the world. But it has been very exciting to see the growth of not only the wineries, but all of the craft brewers and most recently, with the laws changing in favor of privatedistillers, the incredible spirits coming out of our region. But fear not non-drinkers! This isn’t only a publication for oenophiles andbrewophiles. Our editorial content will cover the latest and greatest being offered in our coffee and tea houses, local beverage companies, cheese and chocolate artisans, cuisine pairings at our myriad exquisite dining establishments and exciting travel stories.

We have assembled a team of well-known and well-respected writers in their respective fields such as Anthony Dias Blue, Tom Bedell, Jim Gullo, Amy Pennington, Jacqueline Pruner and cocktail visionary Kathy Casey. We’re thrilled to bring you what we consider to be the very best liquid culture magazine to hit newsstands in the Pacific Northwest in many years.

We have a lot planned for SIP Northwest. Not only will we be producing our print edition, but the magazine will also be available on Zinio’s digital newsstand with an iphone & ipad application. We will also be launching our SIP Series of events which will bring our readers together with our partners for tantalizing dinners with local celebrity chefs that will create a multi-course menu paired with local brews, liquors and wines.

Thank you for digging into the pages of SIP and we hope you’ll enjoy the magazine as much as we’ve had putting it together for you!

Cheers!
