Moka Joe’s Porter Blend

by | Dec 1, 2014

Located in the small town of Anacortes, Washington, Moka Joe Coffee crafts custom, single-origin blends of coffee made from 100 percent Fair Trade Certified beans. The roaster has a collection of coffees inspired by darker, richer beers, which is somewhat surprising that you don’t see this combination more often considering many darker beers have coffee notes to them. Among the collection is the Latin American Lager, African Dark Ale, Shackleton’s Stout and the Porter Blend.

The Porter Blend is a dark roast that, like the beer that gives this coffee its namesake, has some dark chocolate tones and is slightly bitter, but also has some dark dried fruit and tobacco leaf flavors in the mix. It’s a full-bodied coffee that overall is a little foresty and smoky, and finishes very clean.
