BEER THURSDAY: Triplehorn Brewing Company “Öl Du Vin” Saison-Roussanne
The two brothers behind Woodinville, Wash.’s Triplehorn Brewing Company got crafty and close with their winery neighbor, Patterson Cellars, and decided to source some of their late harvest Roussanne wine (at 38 Brix) to blend into their saison-style beer. Aged in Hungarian oak, the result, titled “Öl Du Vin” and meaning “of the vine,” is in true modern farmhouse ale fashion. Loaded with stone fruit, red apple, honeysuckle and cream, the beer is rich, robust and velvety on the palate, finishing with a lingering of caramel that is wiped clean with acid. The beer will soon be bottled and released with a cork and a change.
