SUMMARY:Durant Hosts Fourth Annual Sauvage: An Exploration of Oregon Sauvignon Blanc
DESCRIPTION:Signature spring festival returns April 11 with 20 wineries\, local fare\, and live music \nDurant\, home to the Durant Vineyards Winery and Oregon’s only commercial olive mill\, will host its fourth annual Sauvage: An Exploration of Oregon Sauvignon Blanc event on Saturday\, April 11\, 2026 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Durant at Red Ridge Farms. The walk-around tasting festival showcases the beauty\, range\, and growing reputation of Oregon Sauvignon Blanc\, bringing together 20 local wineries pouring their favorite selections across Durant’s scenic estate. Set among olive groves\, lavender fields\, and gardens in the Dundee Hills\, Sauvage offers guests a true Oregon wine country experience with beautiful views\, delicious wines\, fresh local bites\, and live music. \nThroughout the afternoon\, guests will have the opportunity to meet and engage with the winemakers behind the labels\, while tasting and shopping small-batch wines. Designed to encourage conversation and connection\, Sauvage creates space for guests to wander\, sip\, and discover what makes each wine and producer unique in a welcoming\, relaxed setting. \n“Sauvignon Blanc has become an important part of our story since we first grafted vines in 2016\,” said Paul Durant\, owner of Durant. “Over the years\, it’s been incredibly rewarding to see this varietal grow into a statewide movement. Sauvage gives guests the chance to taste the wines side by side\, meet the winemakers in person\, and experience the energy behind this category in a setting that reflects the spirit of Oregon wine country. It’s inspiring to witness the enthusiasm from both producers and wine lovers as this community continues to grow.” \nFresh grilled oysters and shrimp cocktails\, as well as offerings from locally owned Lemon & Olive and Hapa Pizza\, will be available for purchase throughout the afternoon. Each guest will receive varietal-specific glassware designed to enhance the characteristics of Sauvignon Blanc. \nTickets start at $65 per person and include tastings from all participating wineries as well as the keepsake wine glass. Due to the limited-production wines being poured\, tickets are limited; the event sold out last year. Advance purchase is strongly recommended. \nParticipating wineries include (listed alphabetically): \n\n\nAlexana \n\n\nAndante \n\n\nAppassionata \n\n\nBalsall Creek \n\n\nBeckham Estate Vineyard \n\n\nBjornson Vineyard \n\n\nDivision \n\n\nDominio IV \n\n\nDurant Vineyards \n\n\nHolloran Vineyards \n\n\nIterum \n\n\nKing Estate \n\n\nLa Randonnee Wines \n\n\nLaurel Ridge \n\n\nLimited Addition Wines \n\n\nMatzinger-Davies \n\n\nPatricia Green Cellars \n\n\nSiltstone \n\n\nSokol Blosser Winery \n\n\nWillamette Valley Vineyards \n\n\nEvent Details \n\n\nSaturday\, April 11\, 2026 \n\n\n11 a.m. – 3 p.m. \n\n\nDurant at Red Ridge Farms \n\n\n5430 NE Breyman Orchards Road (Dayton\, OR) \n\n\nTickets are available for purchase online here. DESCRIPTION:THE 11TH ANNUAL HOOD RIVER CIDER FEST RETURNS SATURDAY\, MAY 2\, WITH NEW LOCATION\, FREE ENTRY\, AND EXPANDED FAMILY FUN \nAs spring returns to the Hood River Valley and orchards and wildflowers come into bloom\, the Hood River Cider Fest returns for its 11th year with a new setting and expanded offerings for 2026. \nScheduled for Sat.\, May 2\, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.\, this year’s event moves to a scenic location at the Western Antique Aeroplane & Automobile Museum (WAAAM)\, where attendees can enjoy sweeping views of both Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams while sampling some of the region’s best craft ciders. \nFeaturing more than 60 ciders from over 30 cideries across the Columbia River Gorge and Pacific Northwest\, the event continues its tradition of celebrating the region’s deep-rooted agricultural spirit in a relaxed\, welcoming setting. \nNew for 2026\, admission to the festival is completely free\, giving attendees access to more than 50 arts and crafts vendors\, a variety of food trucks\, and an expanded kids’ area. \nFor those looking to imbibe\, a $35 Cider Tasting Package includes a tasting glass and unlimited samples — enjoyed responsibly. The event has eliminated the token system of prior years\, making the tasting experience simpler and more flexible. \nFamilies will find plenty to enjoy throughout the day. A complimentary kids’ area will feature the FLIP Children’s Museum mobile truck offering free hands-on activities\, along with fee-based bouncy houses and face painting to add to the fun. \nIn addition to cider and festivities\, attendees can take advantage of discounted admission to WAAAM for just $15 (regularly $25) during the event\, making it easy to explore the largest collection of still-flying antique aeroplanes and still-driving antique automobiles in the country and one of the region’s most unique attractions. Free parking will be available at WAAAM. \n“Cider Fest is one of our favorite ways to celebrate spring in Hood River and to highlight the orchard bounty that defines this region\,” said Katie Kadlub\, CEO of Visit Hood River. “This new location brings an incredible backdrop to an already special event\, and the expanded\, free festival experience makes it more accessible than ever.” \nAs in previous years\, sustainability remains a focus. Tasting glassware is not included with the tasting package and may be purchased as an add-on. Guests are encouraged to bring their own reusable vessels. The popular on-site bottle shop will also return\, allowing guests to mix and match selections from participating cideries to take home. \nFor more information or to purchase tickets to the Hood River Hard-Pressed Cider Fest\, visit hoodriverciderfest.com. For more information on Hood River or to book a stay at one of Hood River’s lodging options\, visit visithoodriver.com/stay. \n

SUMMARY:How Whiskey Won Washington presented by Becky Garrison
DESCRIPTION:Washington has a mixed history with liquor. Efforts to ban or restrict it date back to 1854\, before the region even attained statehood\, and “blue laws” remained on the books well into the 20th century. Yet a modern craft distilling boom is happening in the Evergreen State\, and our distillers have emerged as forerunners in the burgeoning American Single Malt revolution. \nHow did whiskey inspire both trouble and innovation? How did its import by settlers affect Indigenous communities and other groups? And how did whiskey play a role in the very creation of our state? Join author and journalist Becky Garrison as she distills the history of the barrel and the bottle in our state. Meet Jimmie Durkin\, an enterprising saloon owner\, and Roy Olmstead\, a former Seattle cop turned gentleman bootlegger\, and other fascinating figures who turned to the business of liquor. \n(doors open at 7:00 pm) \nThis event is 21+

SUMMARY:Waterfront Blues Festival
DESCRIPTION:Waterfront Blues Festival\, joyfully returns to Tom McCall Waterfront Park in Downtown Portland\, July 2-4\, 2026. \nWaterfront Blues Festival is Downtown Portland’s Fourth of July weekend music festival. Since 1988\, Waterfront Blues Festival has raised over $10 million and given a platform to local community organizations—the benefiting charitable partners for the 2026 festival are Meals on Wheels People and The Jeremy Wilson Foundation Musician Health & Service Program. \nThe 2026 festival lineup that proves the blues is more present than you think. This year’s festival brings together voices from Ethiopia\, Peru\, Canada\, London\, New Orleans\, and Portland’s own underground—all carrying the DNA of the blues in completely different forms. \nThis year’s lineup includes The Revivalists\, Durand Jones & The Indications\, Tank and The Bangas\, Cymande\, Hailu Mergia\, Don Was and the Pan-Detroit Ensemble\, Seratones\, Toody Cole and Her Band\, Glitterfox and dozens more acts showing how the blues moves across genres\, borders\, and decades. \nThe initial festival lineup is live\, and tickets are now available at Waterfront Blues Festival. \nIn a new programming partnership for the festival\, True West\, one of the PNW’s leading independent concert producers and the team behind PDX LIVE\, has curated this year’s lineup in collaboration with longtime Festival Artistic Director Peter Dammann. \n“Waterfront Blues Festival has evolved over the years into this unique musical story of how the blues crosses genres and turns up in surprising places. In working with True West\, it was awesome to see their take on Latin artists like The Point\, Fernando Viciconte\, and Orquestra Pacífico Tropical and how they weave into the lineup\,” says Dammann. “And it’s been fun to see True West excited about folks like Don Was\, the legendary producer\, bassist\, composer and bandleader. We’ve wanted to bring him to the fest for years.”  \n“We were thrilled to get the call from the Blues Fest\,” says Lori Hughes Killen\, Senior Talent Buyer at True West. “When we started working with Peter and the Blues Fest Team\, we reflected on the improvisational spirit of the blues\, how it opens up space for the unexpected. Its influence shows up in Peruvian cumbia\, in gritty Portland garage-soul\, in London funk. This lineup isn’t about preservation. These are artists who don’t stick to the script. They collaborate\, they take risks\, they see where the moment takes them\, and that’s really exciting.” \nHighlights from the 2026 Waterfront Blues Festival Lineup include: \n\nChart toppers\, Tiny Desk breakouts and powerhouse soul-rock from Louisiana: The Revivalists\, Tank and The Bangas\, Seratones.\nWorld music for crate diggers and collectors: Cymande\, Hailu Mergia\, The Point.\nSoul-revivalists preaching to the choir of the dance floor: Durand Jones & The Indications\, The Psycodelics\, Billy Allen + The Pollies\, True Loves\, Ural Thomas & The Pain.\nTexas legend and local heroes of Americana: Alejandro Escovedo & The Electric Saints\, Ashleigh Flynn & the Riveters\, Jenny Don’t And The Spurs.\nPunk icons for those that grew up in the Satyricon days: Toody Cole and Her Band\, The Delines.\nFamily acts and chosen family bands: Judith Hill\, Angelique Frances\, Lo & The Steele Family Band\, and Glitterfox.\n\nWaterfront Blues Festival is a fully immersive festival experience\, and in addition to three days and three stages full of music\, the 2026 festival offers: \n\n\n\nA family-friendly and multigenerational celebration: The festival welcomes fans of all ages with free entry for kids 12 and younger thanks to Buick GMC of Beaverton\, and a dedicated family activities area ensuring a fun experience for the whole crew.\nStrong community ties: Local food and drink in the Blues Bites food court\, plus local vendors\, artists and merchants through the festival grounds supporting Portland’s creative community and Downtown economy.\n\n\n\n\nSpectacular Fourth of July Fireworks: The festival produces one of the best July 4th fireworks shows in the country\, launched from a barge on the Willamette River\, visible from all around the city\, and choreographed to a vibrant musical soundtrack.\n\n“Being independently owned and operated\, along with support from the city\, local businesses and the festival’s loyal fans allows us to build this festival for the community first\,” said Festival Director Christina Fuller. “We can spotlight local artists and vendors while also welcoming major national and international talent\, stay accessible for families while throwing a rockin’ Fourth of July party.
