Masters of the Liquid Arts: Snohomish County Celebrates Its Beguiling Craft Beverages

Find yourself bewitched by the liquid artistry on display in the breweries, wineries and distilleries of Snohomish County. Friday, May 31 marks the kickoff of Snohomish’s Local Liquid Arts weekend, featuring the wines, beers and spirits of 29 local craftsmen and craftswomen.

That Friday night, you’re invited to ensnare yourself in gustatory pleasures at the Blue Heron Room in Everett, where venerated local chefs conjure four courses of culinary delights that pair with awe-inducing local beer, wine and spirit options – you pick your poison to accompany each course.

But Saturday is the big shebang. Beginning in the a.m. hours, strike out with a like-minded entourage on a booze cruise bus headed for the best local wineries, distilleries and breweries. You’ll see what’s stewing at places like Skip Rock Distillers, Scuttlebutt Brewing, Dubindil Winery and Furion Cellars.

You’ll arrive back just in time for the tasting extravaganza in the heart of downtown Everett. Here are all the beverage-eries you couldn’t stop for on the morning tour – purveyors of brews and bottles from Dark Moon Artisan Distillery, Diamond Knot Craft Brewing, SoJen Cellars and Quilceda Creek Vintners hint at tricks of their trades while they pour you another glassful of their elixirs. By the end of the day you’ll find that places like Foggy Noggin Brewing do indeed live up to their names.

Sunday is a buffet-style create-your-own Snohomish tour spectacular, with goings-on at several of the featured destinations. Check the event page for participants and locations, and make sure to catch the producers you somehow missed on Friday and Saturday. No matter where you go you’re sure to find things bedazzling and bedeviling: in our experience, the liquid arts rarely fail to astonish.
