Eat | Drink | Eastlake – Thursday, March 28th

by | Mar 20, 2013

The Lake Union aligned street acquires cred in food and drink and hosts an event to prove it.

The local culinary media has showered Cicchetti, Blind Pig Bistro and Sushi Kappa Tamura in positive print reviews and coverage but never is much said about the neighborhood these gastronomic prodigies hail from. Eastlake, the half hood that the University of Washington uses as a thoroughfare to downtown and South Lake Union overcasts in its growing shadow, is now saying enough is enough – the sleepy quadrant of Seattle is quiet no more and they’re throwing a party to prove it.

Eat | Drink | Eastlake will serve as a “coming out party” for Cicchetti, Little Water Cantina, Blind Pig Bistro, Sushi Kappo Tamura and Ravish to showcase their food and drink programs, says Ravish bar manager and event organizer Luke McKinley. On Thursday, March 28th from 6:00—9:00 pm, each restaurant will have a table at the Tyee Yacht Club (the stomping grounds of Ravish’s parent/catering company, Ravishing Radish) and serve a small plate that exemplifies the food they wish to be known for in the neighborhood along with a pour of wine, sake, beer or cocktail. The event will also hold a “friendly competition” between the bartenders of Little Water, Cicchetti and Ravish where the guests will determine the winner.

$30 gets you in the door and tastes of five plates with the five correlating drinks. A cash bar allows you to have a wee bit more fun if desired. Get your tickets here.

“The motivation behind the event is to showcase Eastlake as a dining and drinking destination,” McKinley continues. “Eastlake seems to be often overlooked as a neighborhood for some of Seattle’s best bars and restaurants, and it’s our intention to change that.”

“Keep ’em in the neighborhood” has been the mantra for McKinley and the restaurants behind the event. “A rising tide lifts all boats, as they say,” says McKinley. “My intention is to build the neighborhood in order to benefit us all.”
